Maritime Museum of Santander

Prehistoric Workshops at Altamira Museum
Altamira Museum offers visitors the chance to learn via Prehistoric Workshops. Become deer hunters and check the effectiveness of the invention of the propeller, make fire using prehistoric techniques and even paint with natural pigments like cave artists.

Camera Obscura of Peña Cabarga
This is an optical instrument capable of obtaining a flat projection of an image on part of its inner surface. In other words, it is a periscope that captures an image in the same way as the human eye. It consists of a large, hermetically sealed camera into which rays of light enter, reflected by objects outside it, through a small orifice in one of its walls.

Planetarium
The Planetarium is a specialised projector that shows the apparent movement of the sun, moon, planets, satellites and stars with great precision on a vaulted screen that represents the celestial ceiling as it can be seen from any place at any time on Earth.
It is located in the western end of the Escuela Superior de la Marina Civil in Santander and close to the Palacio de Festivales at Puerto Chico. It is a place of great interest and beauty, particularly for fans of astronomy.
